Time to Party!

One of the many reasons we loved ACC for our reception - photos on the golf course with the iconic Pennybacker Bridge in the background.

When Thomas and I arrived at Austin Country Club for our reception, we were so ready to hug our friends and family, devour the food we'd picked out at the tasting months earlier, and dance the afternoon away. That's when our day-of coordinator {we love you Kristi!} delicately delivered the unfortunate news that the country club was without electricity.

Say whaaaaaat?

It was one of those moments you try to prepare yourself for as a bride - something going wrong. You can plan everything out as perfectly as you can, but you fear the 'what ifs.' I thought I'd panic if anything happened that was NOT in our plans, but you know what? In the moment, I was completely relaxed.

So maybe we couldn't have the sugar-rimmed frozen pink lemonade as planned. And maybe it was a Texas summer with no AC indoors. But you know what? It didn't matter. I was a married lady! And electricity or not, it was time to party.

I'm so grateful that a) the storm earlier in the day dropped the temperatures outside so it was only a little warm and stuffy inside, b) that it was an afternoon wedding so we had plenty of natural light, and c) that my coordinator and the country club put out so many candles that the reception hall was so dreamy and romantic looking! Some of our guests said they didn't even notice the power was out. And praise the good Lord above, the power kicked back on an hour after we arrived.

Well brides, it's true. Before you know it, the reception is over and you're running out the door to start your new life together. Cherish every moment and every little memory of your day. It goes by so quickly!

  1. ah! What a lovely reception. I can't believe how calm you were when you heard the power was out... I guess there really isn't anything you can do about it. But it looks like everything turned out so perfectly! I love everything about your wedding. We have such similar tastes, it's wild!
