Six Months

On the afternoon of August 18th, the thunder rolled, a summer rainstorm let loose, and our wedding ceremony was delayed by 15 minutes because nearby traffic lights were out. The city of Westlake was without electricity because of the storm, but by the grace of God, we never lost power at the church.

Six months ago today, the pews of Smith Family Chapel were filled with family and friends, people who've loved and supported us all the way to the altar.

Six months ago today, the chapel was filled with the beautiful music of our talented friends singing and playing piano, guitar and violin.

Six months ago today, my daddy walked me down the aisle and gave me away - a sacred moment that I've dreamt about ever since I was a little girl.

I almost can't believe we've been married for six whole months, but at the same time, as I look back on the past 184 days, we've been through SO much as husband and wife. Here's a glimpse of our ceremony!

Walking down the aisle to marry my best friend // Phil Wickham's "Always Forever"

"You are the hand that catches my fall
You are the friend that answers my call
You are my day, You are my night
You are my love and all of my life

You are the love I need
You are the air I breathe
You are my love my life always forever
I would lay down my life
Just to be by Your side
You are my love my life always forever

You are the grace that covers my sin
You're everything the beginning and end
You have my soul, my heart and my mind
You have my love and all of my life"

It was really important for us to have a family prayer as part of our ceremony. This was right after we exchanged vows, before Thomas and I lit the unity candle and took communion together. Brynn and David sang Shane & Shane's "Vision of You" during this portion of the ceremony.

Brynn & David, "Vision of You"

"Awaken what’s inside of me
Tune my heart to all You are in me
Even though You’re here God come
And may the vision of You
Be the death of me
And even though you’ve given everything
Jesus come

Come free us, King Jesus
It’s the only way that freedom’s given
From You and You alone
In the work You’ve already done
For all we have are songs,
Unless You come

Here we are, Lord
In this place
Crying out for
Your embrace
To hear Your voice
More than songs
Please come, Jesus come."
